Client's MLS using RETS

  • retag add tags

A client is wanting us to sync their MLS listings into our system for searching. The MLS gave us a RETS url and login. Are we able to utilize the RESO webapi endpoint for this MLS instead of RETS endpoint?

What login URL and account name were you given?

The didn't give a login URL, just a URL to the RETS feed. If I paste it here, it immediately gets removed as spam for some reason. I'll try without the protocol and see if it allows it. columbiasc-rets.paragonrels.com/rets/fnisrets.aspx/COLUMBIA/login?rets-version=rets/1.8

Hi John,

You'll need to contact the MLS. Our customers have a variety of options from us as well as other providers. They also control access to it. Let us know if you have any further questions.

If the MLS has the licensing capability of providing a RETS feed, do they have the capability of also providing a RESO feed? Or is it dependent on what they have licensed with paragon? As in, they are licensed to use RETS feeds but not RESO feeds. We're just not sure how the licensing works with you, and don't want to go down the path of asking them if they are not even capable of providing RESO feeds.

Hi John,

With the changes to MLS Policy Statement 7.90, NAR required all MLS organizations owned and operated by AoR's to implement some type of Data Dictionary system by 1/1/2016. How each organization implements that is up to them. Based on the information that I have, and the URL you provided above, it looks like Consolidated uses Paragon PIC 2.0. You will need to contact Consolidated to gain access.

If you wish to get started on reading the documentation, there's a link in the right side panel on the home page, or you can click here.

We are a bit new to paragon, can you tell me exactly what that means, that they use PIC 2.0? We have access via the credentials they gave us to use for the URL I shared above. Will the credentials be the same for the docs you shared?

Hi John,

We offer two Web API Data Dictionary products for our customers. PIC 2.0 and OpenMLS. OpenMLS is a translation layer which converts RETS to RESO DD compliant data. PIC 2.0 is a stand alone product that uses replication, but gives customers more agreement management tools. Like I said before, the MLS manages access. They may give you a separate set of credentials for Web API.
